Widmer Drifter Pale Ale

Has anyone out there made a successful clone of Widmer Pale Ale? This pale is very drinkable with a very unique hop character.

The brewmasters release from 07 (I think) was Summit Pale Ale and the people I talked to said that was what became Drifter. They taste slightly different, but it was a very similar brew.

Sorry no help on the recipe.

Definitely keep us posted.

I LOVE that combination of Summit and Nelson Sauvin; although I'd prefer a little lighter color and body than the Drifter. I've been planning on brewing my own version and I'd love to compare notes / setup a trade once you brew this one.

I brewed a couple Drifter-inspired beers this last spring. The recipe I used is pretty close, and could serve as a good starting point:

5 gallon batch

Ingredients:
------------
9 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row)
12.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L
8.0 oz Caravienne Malt
8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L
4.0 oz Cara-Pils/Dextrine

0.50 oz Warrior (15.00 %) @ 60 min (25.9 IBU)
0.25 oz Nelson Sauvin (12.00 %) @ 5 min (2.1 IBU)
0.25 oz Summit (15.00 %) @ 5 min (2.6 IBU)
0.50 oz Nelson Sauvin (12.00 %) Dry Hop 7 days
0.50 oz Summit (15.00 %) Dry Hop 7 days

Wyeast #1056

Total Grain Weight: 10.50 lb
60 min Mash at 152.0 F
10 min Mash Out at 168.0 F
