Actually, Nut Brown refers to the color. I make a respectable Southern English Brown Ale called "Brown Nuts Ale" that has a nut like flavor along with the malty flavors and hop goodness we all enjoy. While I usually make a 10 gallon recipe, I'll halve it and see how that works.

7.5 pounds Golden Promise Ale malt
0.5 pounds British Crystal (~55L)
0.5 pounds Chocolate Malt
0.25 pounds Victory Malt
0.25 pounds Honey Malt

6 AAU's UK Goldings hops @ 60~90 minutes
1 ounce Fuggles hops @ 7 minutes
1 ounce UK Goldings @ Knockout

Ferment with Wyeast 1968 or White Labs WLP002 @ 64'F for 1 week
Chill to 30-35'F for 3 days, then add 1/2 tbs each of Gelatin and Polyclar
Package as usual after another week when beer is bright and clear
Share, and enjoy!
5% Abv, 25 IBU's

Prost!

Well, all those recipes have malts in them that my LHBS doesn't carry. I have never asked but I bet some of those malts could be special ordered, or I will have to buy them from B3 or someplace. For convenience I have listed below all the malts carried by my LHBS:
2-Row Pale Malt, 1.8 L
6-Row Pale Malt, 1.8 L
Lager Malt, approx. 2.5 L
Maris Otter Malt, approx. 2 L
Mild Ale Malt, 2.9 L,
Munich Malt, approx. 9 L
Pale Ale Malt, approx. 3 L
Pilsen Malt, approx. 1.6 L
Vienna malt, approx. 4 L
Crystal Malt, 10L, 20L, 40L, 60L, 80L, 120L
Carapils Dextrin, approx 12L
Black patent Malt, approx. 515 L
Chocolate Malt, approx. 395 L,
Special B malt, Belgian, 115 L,
Accidulated malt, 1.8 L
Aromatic malt, 19 L
Biscuit malt, 25 L
Melanoidin malt, 26 L
Smoked malt, 2.8 L
Victory malt, 25 L
Roasted Barley, 300 L, (unmalted)
Roasted Barley (unmalted), approx. 515 L,

*NO* Honey malt? This is rediculous! Honey malt is a standard malt from Gambrinus, so I'm a bit dismayed to hear this. Victory malt is good, but it tends to get a lil hot if you use too much. If you can't get good British or continental malt, then add a pound of bisuit, and aromatic malt to the mix to compensate for the necessary inherent differences between domestic and imported malt. Jopefully the Maris Otter will be floor malted :-)

Prost!
