Brewing in Minnesota

Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:16 pm

Hey, I'm new and I think TBN is AWESOME! I have brewed my forth extract brew yesterday. Extract because my dad worked in the dehydration industry in Wisconsin as I grew up so I owe it for the food on my table. I've been podcasting the Sunday Live Show since this winter. People on the bus think I'm crazy as I am totally laughing and grinning all the way! I finally listened live the other day and my question from the chatroom went on right away. I felt WAY COOL. Currently I have some yeast from the bottom of my fermenter on the microcope in the lab I work in because I'm a huge nerd. It fluoresces like the dickens by the way. I think beer will too, I'll let you know. I'm a grad student working on a biophysics degree so my mom thinks I am way smart and will one day dominate beer brewing. That is, of course, with the help of the valuable information and shared experience from those of the The Brewcasters. You people are doing great service to us beginners. Thanks for reading and Cheers!!

Gotta say i've had the same experience on the train, laughing my ass off at 8 am and just having people stare at me...love it.

Also glad to see another MNer here in the forum.

This is the first FORUM I have ever joined too. Add that to my "I think TBN is really keen" list. Anyways, I am just starting to get a feel for how forums work and how to find things.
Oh, I put sugar i took from the coffee shop into that yeast I broght to my lab and now i have 5ml of wort fermenting on my desk. No bacteria infection (I checked under microscope - I got one in some cells i was measuring a few years ago so i know what it looks like). Hopefully I will get a movie of yeast dividing to post on my web site tomorrow.

Gulp gulp,
