Finally bought a keg!

Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:58 pm

So I finally bought my first keg system. I recently was relocated for my job and I am conveniently located exactly 15 miles from both Northern Brewer and Midwest Brewing supplies. I have visited both locations and prefer one over the other. Don't get me wrong both places had everything I needed, I just had a better experiece at one location. So I decided to finally buy myself a keg sytem and just kegged my first beer. Now I am anxiously awaiting for it to carbonate. Now I need to build or buy a keggerator. I have little fridge space and don't own a house to get another full size fridge. I looked at a few keggerators and I find I might be better off building my own. I need a few ideas on how I can accomplish this or where I should look? Goodbye bottling!

Ah, a major rite of passage. Welcome. Kegging is definately the way to go. I only have 6 of them, and I need more. Remember, as Daniella once said - "it's so fucking hot"...

With limited space and wanting to build your own, I'd look at a Sanyo 4912 fridge. Easy to convert, will hold 2 kegs plus a 5lb CO2 bottle. You can spend the extra $$ on a tower or just run taps out the front door. There is plenty of info on the web for converting this fridge.

Chest freezer units are sweet. Yours is really nice.

The only place I might have room for one is in the garage, and I may not even have room there after I renovate it. Wouldn't even need a bunch of taps, 2-3 (to go with the 2 in my Sanyo), and have the rest of the room for keg storage.
