And yet, Tennessee is not widely regarded as a center of cultural enlightenment. Amazing.

Nascar fan and Tony Stewart fan. I still can't sit and watch a whole race but the 3 hours that it is on, the TV is tuned to it. Sorry Bugeater on the Tony Stewart fan, as long as you don't like Jeff Gordon we can still associate.

I wasn't much of a fan but then they built the track in KC, I volunteered out there for a yearly kickoff luncheon. I got to meet some drivers in all the auto sports and I got to ride along. I tell you what, you get in a car going 165mph around that track and it changes your whole perspective on the sport. That was a lot of fun and scary as hell. I will definitely do the driving next time, if there is a next time, but if any of you have the opprotunity to ride or drive at a NASCAR track I suggest you do it, even if you don't like NASCAR, it will change your perspective.

I will say that I went to a race, and honestly, I would rather watch it on TV. Easier to follow and I can leave it and come back and I didn't have to pay several hundred dollars to see it.

Dude who said anythig about sport? You can keep your Coors to yourself Matt. I wont pay buckets of money to attend a live Nascar race, but we used to sneak into KCIR a lot as a kid to watch BD Don Garlits light em up. I watch on the TV with the mute on and pint in hand.

Oh yeah, it's a real cultural wasteland here in the Bay Area

Define culture. I mean look at Justin.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Culture is understanding that regional differences, dialect and social traits other than that, which you live in, is an acceptable form of intelligence; even if you, yourself don't understand the meaning of the life-style. To assume another’s experiences are not cultured limits your own thinking, and offers you up to folly. Experience only, cultures us, and the lack of that leads us to critiquing the things we don't understand. A dissertation of our experience allows us to compare our life styles to others and gives us a basis of comparison as to what is cultured.
