I like the new site. It does seem like a logical evolution of the old site. That said, I have a couple of points of constructive criticism. First and foremost, it's hard to find links. I ended up just hovering over everything watching for the pointer to turn into a hand. It would help if you had some unified theme of color for things that are links.

It looks kind of like you're using the Dreamweaver/Flash method of linking where pictures and objects are the links instead of words. Those sort of need some dramatic event on hover like a menu unfolding. At least make them change color or something as they're hovered over. Personally, I prefer word links, myself. Not crazy about black sites, either but that's just personal preference.

Overall, great site. I like Doc's corner. The schedule page is awesome. The sponsorship is visible, but unobtrusive.
Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors -- and miss.

I really do appreciate everyone's comments criticism and praise here guys. Thank you very much. I have tried to logically progress from the old site to the new. Personally, although the old site was easy to navigate (because there was nothing to it), it was guly, poorly organized, and well...the first site I ever built. I like the organizationa and uniformity of the new site. Not sure why the links are hard to find, I tried to make them big buttons. they're still text, just stylized text and virtually all navigation is on the top horizontal or left sidebar...which is pretty universal across sites. I'll see if I can highlight them better maybe.

Anyway, keep using it and let me know what suggestions you have. I've got skin like leather so no need to hold back. 2dog, your posts are totally welcome and appreciated just as much as everyone else. All is helpful.

In the end, I'll probably tell you all to piss of anyway

Thanks again,
Justin

I think part of the navigation problem is the fact the horizontal bar is in script typestyle in a smaller font than the vertical bar. Your eye is drawn to the left hand bar and you don't find some of the things on the horizontal bar, like the link to the forum here. Your eye skips right over that horizontal bar.

I would suggest getting rid of the horizontal bar altogether, and putting it all on the vertical bar.

Other than that, I really like the new look. Thanks for all the hard work. It is certainly better than what I could do, or I would have my own web page up by now.

The new page looks great, Justin! I agree that the navigation bar is the one part of the page most in need of attention. If I wasn't an acolyte of The Brewing Network already, I might have had a difficult time finding those links right away. Perhaps simply boldfacing the typeface would and making the text slightly (1-2 pt) larger would be all that would be needed to make the links stand out on the page better.

Looking forward to a Great 2006!
