Help extract ended at 1.018....

Mon Feb 05, 2007 6:28 pm

Hay there,
I went back to my roots and brewed a B3 extract stout. After 14 days it had gone from 1.055 to 1.018. I sanitized a stirred and gently stirred up the yeast. For the first 14 days the beer was at 66F (WL001). After the stir it was dropped to about 62F. (I know a 62 is low....) any how after 14 more days it is still 1.018. What should I do? What would you do?
On a related note I also thought I might blend it with a 60 schilling ale that went to far (1.008) hoping the resulting beer would be 1.014 ish, BUT have no stile...

Help

If it were me I would experiment and add some oak chips and a several mls of bourbon. You are at roughly 5% abv so not too bad but why not have some fun with a batch here and there.

Wow, thats kinda out of left field.. I like it... I was expecting, add more yeast.... let it sit.... or "your fu$%ed".

Thats a good idea, mabey I'll blend 1/2 with the 60 schilling and sepeate the other 2.5 G into 3 experamints and age.

How long should i AGE THEM?

Tim, I would age them to taste then rack off any chips if you go that direction.

Ya I think it is no good, Keg's in the mail. I thought about warming it up but my APA is on the top shelf at 69F and I can only fit one up there. So the long ans short is I am going to keg it. Ill mix it with the 60 shilling, use it for cooking and drink it. After all most of my first kits were extract and never got below 1.015 to 1.022, and none of thoes killed me

Thanks
