El Dorado, Meridian, Amarillo - And some price drops!

Fellow BN Army Members,

This just went out to our email list, sign up on the left side of any page on http://www.Nikobrew.com

-----------------

Good Morning Fellow Homebrewer,

We just put the following hops online:

2011 Amarillo 2oz - $5.50 - While supply lasts
2012 El Dorado 2oz - $5.50 - While supply lasts
2012 Meridian 2oz, 8oz, and 1lb - $3.75, $14.50, and $25 - Introductory pricing

El Dorado - You may have tasted this hop if you were at the National Homebrew Conference in Washington last year and went to the talk about new hop varieties, where it blew everybody away, including our very own Warehouse Enforcer Scott. His reaction to it put me on a hunt for this variety and I finally tracked some down. It's 15.3% AA, and has a candy-like aroma that is very orange/lime/citrus. Tropical fruit has also been used to describe this delicious variety...just writing this is making my mouth water :P We have a very small amount of El Dorado which is why it's only available in 2oz packs.

Meridian - This is a bit lower alpha at 6.7% AA and sounds amazing in a single hopped pale ale. "It smells like bubble gum and fruit punch" said Warehouse Enforcer Scott as he bagged these up last night. Sounds fantastic! Here's an interesting write up of how Meridian came to be:

PRICE DROPS!

We recently dropped the prices of several varieties:

2012 CTZ - Now $10/lb from $13/lb
2011 Warrior - Now $16.50/lb from $23/lb
2011 Centennial - Now $20.50/lb from $27.50/lb

Standard Nikobrew $5 Flat Rate Shipping applies on all domestic orders (yes Alaska, Hawaii, APO/FPO this means you too!). International shipping is $18 USD for 4 full pounds or 3 1/2 pounds of mixed increments and international customers must use PayPal as their payment method.

Thank you for your support and if you have any questions, concerns, feedback, requests, or just want to say "Hi" feel free to respond to this email. Have a great weekend!

Prost!

Niko! You rock!

I actually came onto the forum tonight to ask if anyone knew were I could score some El Dorado hops, as I've struck out so far in finding it. Then I find Niko's post and it was like "Hallelujah" and that sort of stuff. Order is placed and the brew session is scheduled.

Keep up the good work brother.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you found this post also :)

On a side note we just ran out of full pounds of Amarillo and are back to 2oz packs. We don't have much El Dorado left either but I think we still have enough to get us by for at least another couple of months. Cheers!

Great timing Niko. And Citra pellets on sale! Had to get in on some of those and a few others. First time buying (usually buy from LHBS), but they haven't had the best selection lately. Didn't see any, but do you ever carry whole hops?

I just did a single hop APA with the El Dorado. The pellets looked like they had gotten wet or something. They fell apart & were kind of puffy. They smelled & tasted fine, the beer's still a week or so from being kegged so I can't comment on that side. Just kind of weird since I've never gotten pellets quite like that before. Niko, any backstory on why?

Yes, when being pelletized they were run at a very cool temperature to help preserve the oils and a side effect of that is they fall apart much more easily. Thanks for reminding me of that, I'll put a disclaimer online shortly so folks don't get worried. Cheers

Interesting stuff. I figured there was nothing wrong with them, but not everyone smells & tastes their hops before they brew. I've seen some loose ones, but never quite like this. I'm excited to see how it turns out - the fermenter smells great. Kind of Simcoe-ish.
