3 Year Old Wyeast Pack Smacked

Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:34 am

Decided to smack this almost 3 year old pack of Wyeast 3726 from July 2008. Took a little over 2 weeks but it swelled up as fat as any other pack!

Cool stuff. You could build a starter and prob. just rock it out. Yeast if pretty fucking hearty/cool. I love those little fungi's.

I sure did. Stepped it up on the stirplate to enough to pitch in a 10 gallon batch. No issues with it, Fermented the batch down to 1.004 in less than a week

That's good to know. I've never used yeast over 6 months old. I guess a starter is always the key.
