Has anyone ever tried to brew with these.

They are edible(actually in survival guides if you are stuck on a beach) and smell wonderful all dried out. Just need to get therm milled.

Sea oats are a tall coastal grass all over the east coast of the United States. Picking sea oats is punishable by fine in most states. It is a protected grass and grows so thick that it is used for protecting against storms.

What's the best way to recycle your spent sea oats after mashing?

Looks like as long as you're not in GA or FL you can pick them... You should brew a coastal stout with them! Oyster stout with coconut? Shit, who knows I'm not good with ideas :)

actually I was thinking an IPA with a little Sorachi Ace, or more likely spanish cedar and some hops I like. Its a shore thing..cedar like the shingles on the houses and oats from the beach.
