Cargill availability for homebrewers?

Fri Jul 01, 2011 2:09 am

On Mondays session the brewer from Troeggs mentioned that they used malt from Cargill. Justin questioned weather that was available to homebrewers and I believe it was Tasty that said it was. Does anyone know where Cargill malt can be purchased? Last I knew they did not sell to homebrewers or even homebrew shops. More than one brewer has mentioned that the malt from Cargill is top notch so my intrest has peaked.

I've bought Cargill malt in bulk from my local homebrew shop before. I haven't seen it recently, but haven't been looking for it because I've mostly been using German pils or Maris Otter.

My LHBS carries it here in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will send it to you I'm sure. The place is called "The Beer Nut" www.beernut.com.

All of the Dingemans malt is Cargill malt. Not sure if that's what they are referring to, but that's the Cargill malt that's readily available to homebrewers that I'm aware of.
