I hit it on Monday, so I know the feeling. This is day 16 for me. 74 more days until I earn my all-grain upgrade...

I spent a lot of money on a bunch of different e-cig stuff over the last month so it will be another couple weeks before I save any money. That being said I didn't quit smoking to save money.

In the last week I've noticed some very positive changes to my health already. Really happy to be getting some positive results.

I still haven't decided what to do with my last pack of smokes. I thought I would save it for the first bonfire of the year but now that just seems wrong.
Well that keg disappeared fast!

On Tap at the Firkin Pub: Hazelnut Brown Ale, Firkin Stout, Gatorale, Ginger and Green Tea Metheglin, Firkin Pils, Firkin Bitter
In the Firkin Fermenters: Cassis Mead, Dunkelweizen
Up Next: Planning for next season.

This is what my grandfather did to beat a two-pack a day unfiltered Lucky Strike habit: he took his last pack, wrapped it up in a shitload of duct tape, and kept it with him. Any time he felt the urge, he couldn't bum knowing he had a pack stashed in his pocket (he was that kinda guy). He'd start unwrapping it and eventually stop once the urge passed. That worked for a while, and then he didn't even carry it with him anymore. This might not work for everyone though...

Way to go Oz! Have you noticed that you use less salt now? After I quit, I couldnt believe the amount of salt I was putting on stuff. You can probably taste beer again, too.
Congrats, man! That shit is tough. I've done it about a hundred times. Trying to quit again, as a matter of fact. Working in a goddamn restaurant sure doesn't help AT ALL!

I hit my 90 days on the 16th of this month. 90 days, no cigarettes, and I just got the news that my 62-year old mother, who has smoked since she was 14, is going on the no-smoking pill and quitting. This is indeed joyous news to me, and I sorta chalk it up to the karma of me quitting and not looking back.

Glad to hear we still have people on board. If we ever meet, we're going to have to buy each other a few rounds over this.

Edit: Just as I promised myself, after my return from Dallas at the end of the month, I'll be upgrading to an all-grain setup. Not a terribly expensive one, but I'll be able to do all-grain. My 6 month prize is a kegging system with keggerator. I'm gonna be brewing a LOT.

Hey gang,
Just wanted to chime in to let you know it does get easier, as time moves on.
I quit a 30 year, 2 pack of Camels a day habit 9 years ago. Let me tell ya, there are still times I wish I didn't get rid of all my pipes and other stuff, but I have been told by others I look 20 years younger than I actually am. Just got carded at a bar the other day, and I'm 51 years old.

Life is good,
Alan
