Yeay, yeah, yeah.
I lived in Sacramento for a spell and the winters were really dry when I was there, so I know where you are coming from.

Things aren't much better for weather down here in Nebraska either. The temp was near 90° last week and then we got snow the other day. As an added bonus we are also at the north end of "tornado alley". Weather gets really exciting in the spring and early summer on top of the weather extremes.

Yep, I am all too familiar with those damn tornadoes. There were a couple that hit very close to us last year

We drive through Wadena on our way to our cabin on Leech Lake just about every weekend, This town got completely demolished and had to rebuild just about everything. What a friggin mess!

I live at 6000' in the valley below Big Sky. Monday night we got 6", another 8" on Tuesday and Wednesday it was a beautiful 65 with bluebird skies. If my ankle wasn't all sorts of fucked, I'd be out snowboarding right now :) I love it here. I grew up in Holland, MI where the humidity is the same as what you guys are talking. Screw that. Our 'wet' spring snow isn't as bad as what the mid-west gets all winter.

Hey Capt, one word....greenhouse.... I'm at 5800' myself, it's added two months to the growing season for me. My hops are finally breaking ground. Hopefully there won't be a repeat of last year, three or four late season snow falls, knocked the hell out of my hops! :|

We're looking into one as well. We're not out of 'frost danger'... well ever really. Last year we had measurable snowfall every month of the year. Summer was on a Thursday last year, I believe.

I know the feeling Oz... I've seen snow every month of the year here in Reno. It's currently windy with a cold front coming in, might get some snow later today. I keep my tomatoes in containers that I can bring in and out of the house until I'm sure the temp will remain warm enough at night to keep em in the greenhouse. I learned the hard way, didn't think they would freeze during the night, they will. Tomatoes just don't like any cold, and heating the greenhouse isn't cost effective. But for everything else, they're growing strong.
