Naming OMFG

A coworker shared a story with me after visiting a friend this weekend. He said his friend's wife works in a NICU and one of the babies has a peculiar name. The name was:

La-a

Before I tell how it's pronounced, let's hear some guesses.

Well that's no fun, someone guessing it on the first try. I asked a half dozen people and no one had a clue.
