Santiam hop substitution?

Mon Mar 07, 2011 4:59 pm

Looking to brew Tasty's Dortmunder Export and can't procure any santiam hops. Anyone know of a good sub for this one? I know they are bred from Tettnang and a Northwest hop.

I also read that Santiam has Cascade for a grandparent as well. I guess I am leaning towards tettnang as I am not a big fan of spalt hops.

According to the Hop Union Hop Data Book http://www.hopunion.com/hopunion-variety-databook.pdf, possible substitutions are Tettnang, German Spalt, and German Spalter Select.
