Dry Hopping with Galena? Any opinions?

Sun Jan 16, 2011 6:20 pm

Hello all,

I am thinking about dry hopping with Galena. I am thinking about putting this in a black IPA. Would this turn out ok? Not the right profile? Please let me know your opinions.

Thanks

I had an IPA made with nothing but Galena once. It smelled like the inside of a hop warehouse and tasted fantastic.

I do know that Galena is a great bittering hop although I have read that some people are aversive to using it as a finishing hop as it can be a bit rough in flavor and aroma. I have never used it as a dry hop though. People also used to say that Chinook was a bit rough tasting too, and I love those in a good IPA, so whatever.... :D
