storing used oak cubes

How do you guys store your used oak cubes? I used some a couple months, which I aged the beer on the cubes for a little over a week. I dried the medium toast oak cubes out and put them in a sealed bag. However, I looked at them the other day and they now have changed to a white color.

I re-use sprials and cubes. I rinse them, put inthem in a sandwich bag, and throw them in the freezer. Then steam sanitize right before the next use. I make several batches of the DBA clone a year.

Color will blanch over time. Mold grows pretty quick on mine if I try to dry them and leave them out.
