Fining agents

Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:04 pm

I am at work at the moment and am unableto listen to the archive.

On the BN when they were at Downtown Joes 2 weeks ago there was a discussion on finings.

What fining agent were they talking about?
Does anyone remember the name?

Cheers

It was Biofine Clear they were talking about. Homebrewers can get it from http://www.midwestsupplies.com/biofine-clear.html. I have some on the way to give it a try but haven't used it yet so can't comment on how it performs. I am lazy and if it works as good as gelatin without having to make the gelatin mixture, I'll be a happy camper.

Yep. 3 to 30 mL per 5 gallons. Will take some experimentation to get the dose perfect for every beer.
