Abacast upgrade

Thu Jul 08, 2010 1:49 pm

so, when I click on the broadband button on the home page, rather than having winamp open up and play what ever's streaming, I get the top third of my screen telling me I need to install some abacast upgrade.

I've been through the upgrade BS a dozen times and it doesn't seem to be working. I know that sometimes the stream is down if Justin is away, but the homepage has been updated to reflect the upcomming shows, so I'm starting to think there's something wrong.

Any ideas? If it matters any, I'm running some version of Windows XP and mybrowser is Firefox 3.6.6.

Close Firefox. Make sure it isn't still running in Task Manager. Then try uninstalling the Abacast client using Add/Remove programs. Reboot. Install via:

http://www.abacast.com/download/

Let's see how that works.

I was so sick of that crap I just installed Itunes and use that. Never a problem. Ever.

Code,

I'm trying to get this to work on my work computer as that's where I've always listened. I removed abacast through the control panel add/remove function. I rebooted and went directly to www.abacast.com/download and reinstalled it.

I then came back to the homepage here, clicked on the broadband button to listen and I'm still getting the top 1/3 of the page telling me to install what I just installed and the stream won't play.

any other options?

Matt,

http://support.abacast.com/

Open a ticket. Hate to send you there, but I too am running 3.6.6 on multiple computers and have no issues. I even uninstalled and reinstalled on one computer and it just works. The odd thing is that I haven't gotten an abacast "upgrade" request in a LONG time, so it is puzzling why you are getting one.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance, but it isn't anything on the BN side.

I find it so much easier to listen via Firefox and VLC.

It just works... :jnj

so you'll quickly figure out I'm a loser at computers.

I run IE8 and some old ass version of windows at home and when I click on the "broadband" button on the home page from home, the stream pops right up without problem.

I just recently was forced to switch from IE8 to Firefox 3.6.6 at work and the stream hasn't worked since.

What do I need to try next week to get this videolan to work?...remember....I'm a coors light drinker when it comes to computers :D

I've had the latest version of FF do some really weird and unexplainable shit. Try running this question by the geeks on the FF forum. They know some tricks that might get it working.
