New old brewer

Thu May 20, 2010 1:39 pm

I am brewing again after a 13 year break. I have an American Brown in a carboy right now and not so patiently waiting.

About 3 months ago my wife sat me down and reminded me that I used to really love brewing and competing. She without my knowledge bought me a Blichman Top Tier 15 gal system, 20lb co2 bottle, kegs, pumps, malt mill and a freezer with a temp control on it and of course all the toys to go with it.

My question is, should I keep her? Kinda suspicious really. Waiting to hear from you.

she must have gotten the bad news from your recent lab before you. that or she's trying to distract you :D . congratulations and welcome back to a hobby that has changed alot since you were last brewing. i didnt brew for 13 years myself until 2007 and i havent looked back since.

:jnj Yes this hobby/lifestyle has changed a lot. We used to cook some grain add some yeast and stick it in my basement, put it in a keg and well you know the rest. Now we are doing yeast starters, diacetyl rests etc etc. Oh well, as long as it is fun, I get good beer and meet some good people it is worth this old dog learning new tricks.

Not sure about the lab results. Need to check on that one.

As far as her having a sister? Yes she does. And she is married to a great guy that I think the world of. Sorry. Will keep an eye out for ya though. lol

perhaps she's trying to give you hints. Sounds like she's found a better way than leaving pictures of engagement rings everywhere for you...

The one thing this lady ( who is my wife of 22 years) wont do is miss an opportunity. She is definitely not one to do the hint thing. She just stands up and says this is the way it is. Kinda nice. Oh well she seems to be enjoying the brewing as much as I am. Not going to complain. lol

I'd just be suspicious if she gives you plane ticket and NHC tickets...you may come home to an empty house :)

All kidding aside, it sounds like you have a great wife there. Remember this around anniversary and birthday time.

Welcome back.
