I'd guess that probably 2/3 of water suppliers use chloramine at this point. If you live in a smaller community, are on a community well or get your water from any source other than a supplier serving a large number of people you may be chloramine free (but still have chlorine). If you smell chlorine out of the tap you have chlorine and chloramine or just chlorine. To test for chloramine draw a tumblerfull of water and let it stand overnight. The following morning pour back and forth between 2 tumblers while sniffing. If you still smell chlorine you are dealing with chloramine.
Chloramine will depart you water on standing but it will take weeks as opposed to hours for it to get down to levels you would be comforable with in your beer.
