I'm in love with HopsDirect

Fri Jan 08, 2010 1:52 pm

I just gotta say, I'm completely smitten :D

I ordered 1lb of 13 different hops from them a little while back, the entire order came out to about $150 WITH shipping. (only $18 shipping) Each type was packaged in a foil freezer-sealed bag too.

As I'm going through the hops and vacuum-sealing them into 1oz bags, I'm realizing there is considerably more than a pound for each type. In fact, I'm getting at LEAST 1.5 pounds every time.

Just thought I'd share...<3

I'm jealous of your hop collection :bnarmy:

I've never ordered from Hops Direct, but I know I get quite happy when I get a package (haha.. package) in the mail from Nikobrew. He's a sponsor of this site, and has by far the best hop selection I've found anywhere. Plus he's a neat guy and supports the BN.

Come to the Winter Brews fest and share all this goodness you've been brewing!

I'm an unemployed full time student getting married in a few months. flights were waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than i thought! ($350 for two of us to fly round trip and stay at a nice hotel!). Get to the airport, jump on the BART, and you have your transportation for the weekend.

Anyways... yay hops! What 13 varieties did you get?

Agreed! You can get round trip airfare for $159 and find a cheap motel. Probably pull off the whole weekend for $250.

Man, for 13 lbs of pellet hops I would recommend using Bell Mason Jars and vacuum sealing them in jars. In fact, for any amount of hops I would. It is awesome, put a 1 lb in a jar and when you need them measure the exact amount you need, then reseal it. You'll need this attachment and a vacuum sealer with a port for it (which almost all have).
