Thai Basil

Sat Oct 03, 2009 4:37 am

Does anyone know a source where I can mail order dried Thai Basil? I've had some trouble getting it from at the local Oriental Market so I'll looking for a spice house I can order it from.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I wouldn't bother with the dried stuff.

Dried herbs are very different from the same fresh herbs. I'd venture to guess that, of you can't get Thai Basil, you're closer using regular sweet basil rather than dried Thai. The two do have a slightly different flavor, but with all the other thing going on in the beer, you're probably OK.

+1

while i have not tried this beer and can't speak to the spicing in it, i have had to make substitutions for thai basil while cooking many times, if you add just a touch of mint along with your italian basil it does a good job of mimicking thai basil. hope this helps
