I was slightly worried my dremelling wouldn't be smooth and might introduce nooks and crannies for bugs. Of course I guess I have a polisher attachment for the dremel too. -Eric

Dremel is you friend. I bought one just for this reason.

Thanks guys for the responses...

I have the plastic ones for CO2 right now and I just don't feel safe using them with the liquids (especially the hot side). SS QDC are a bit more expensive but I assume it's ultimately worth the $$ in the long run.

Doesn't everyone have a milling machine? Thats what I used to get rid of the crosses in my qdc's. I like the plastic qdc as mentioned above because they stay cool to the touch. I second the placement of the valve at the output of the pump too. I didn't do this at first and when I shut the sparge valve at the head I had a small rupture in the silicon hose. Apparently they don't like preassure when above 70F.

If you have the space I would shoot them out from the pots a bit to lessen the direct heat they recieve from the burners.

I found 3/8 inch metal quick disconnects after looking through 4 different home centers plumbing centers and almost giving up. I was getting something for my lawnmower and found them with the powerwashers. You can probably find them online, but they were only about $6 each and seem to work great. I did add a little food grade lubricant on them. Definitely worth looking into. Might even be able to find 1/2inch ones.
