Please help....very important...!!!

Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:54 pm

Well....I have been trying for 9 years and I have finally done it....

I found a beer that my wife likes!!!! Holy shit...thought it would never happen. I know some people may not call it beer, but hell, she likes it and I want to encourage the new found taste. And it is not too bad...bit sweet for my taste.

I need a recipe for Melbourn Bros Strawberry (Says spontaneous, but I can't taste anything wild....Brett C. Maybe ???).

She even said without prompting...."If you make this I will drink it".....

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Here's what I was able to dig up for you. Try this link:

There's other articles online that I skimmed but that one was pretty good. Sounds like a fruit lambic though so listen to the latest jamil show episode about lambic. Also worth noting is that either that site or a different one says that they don't add fruit, they blend the finished beer with fruit juice. So I'm not sure if they allow the fruit juice to ferment or if they pasteurize the beer before adding the juice. From what I read I think they pasteurize to prevent another fermentation. Good luck!

Good info, thanks....

Going to try something similar next week....I have a beer with B. Lambicus coming off primary and will use a bit of that along with some english ale yeast...see where that gets me. I don't the equipment to pasteurize 5 gal, but hey if it is sweet and fruity mayby it will work....

You don't need to pasteurize per se. I think (which means I'm more than likely wrong hehe) that you can add campden tablets to your finished beer and it will kill what's in there. I think that's what wine makers do and cider makers when they want a sweet product. I'm sure that someone else can confirm this.

Step 1: Take a gallon of beer
Step 2: Add the campbden tablets to kill bugs
Step 3: Add the juice
Step 4: Feed the wife
Step 5: PROFIT

Yeah, the campden tablets will kill all of the yeast that is still active. I think it says wait about 24 hours before repitching (if you are adding something else) otherwise i think you are good to go.
