pumps

Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:52 am

So i'm finally going to invest in a pump (primarily to convert my wort chiller into the Jamil-o-chiller). Any suggestions. I know the one available at most home brew shops, but i guess i'm trying to avoid dropping $130 on it.

Someone out there must have a good idea, help a brother out.

Invest in a good pump, this is one piece of equipment you really can't go cheap on.

This one has the bracket and is prewired. I just got one of these from this guy.

I got mine from B3. I agree on the non skimping out bit. Last thing you want is for your cheep pump to go out on you mid chill...

There are not too many pumps under $200 that are food grade, will handle boiling hot liquids, will handle continuous duty and have a decent flow rate. The choices are very slim....

I am currently planning the same upgrade to a whirlpool chiller and shopped around for a pump, the March pump mentioned before is the best. The only other alternative I found was a Little Giant pump for about the same price and it is only rated to 200 degrees, but for a chiller it would be fine as your wort will drop below that temp quickly.

Just go with the March, $130 is the going rate.

Agreed. It's a good deal at that price.

Or wait for it to hit the More Beer deal of the day!
