I just wanted to let everyone know I got first place for my american brown ale in the drunk monk challenge wich is a local homebrew competition here in illinois. It is also a mcab qualifier. Here is the recipe that won so all can brew and enjoy. It is a tweaking of jamils recipe.


L.I.T.H. Town Brown
all grain
8.5 lbs 2 row
.65 lbs crystal 40l
.40 lbs crystal 60l
.35 lbs victory
.45 lbs. chocolate
.65 lbs dextrine

1.5ml lactic acid to mash
mash at 155 F 1 hr.
sparge 170 f water

.65 oz Horizon 11.4 aa 60
.50 oz Amarillo 8.9 AA 30
.50 oz " " 0

Boil for 75 min.

O.G. 1.053
F.G. 1.011

WLP001 Cal ale yeast

ferment at 68 F

Enjoy.

I will also post the amber ale that took 3rd soon but I have to get back to brewing my barleywine.
on tap: horse feed oatmeal stout, brown porter, honey pale.

In Reserve: oaked imperial amber, dopplebock, imperial IPA,baltic porter.

In fermentors: Imperial stout, APA, brown porter, american brown ale, belgian pale.

I'm not sure on the conversion to make an extract version so if some one can convert the 2-row into an amount of extract so extract brewers can brew this also it would be appreciated.
