It might be too extreme for me to say Hitler, how about McCarthy? His communist scapegoating really rocketed him to popularity. It is a very common political strategy when you think about it.

Everyone was at fault here. Legislatures, Skateboarders, and Police officers. I'm not saying anything justified anyone's actions.

Oh, come on. The only people that did something wrong is the punk-ass skateboarders who have no respect for authority or the correct way to protest. The people of the community that work hard for a living decided to elect officials that would put an end to what they thought was a nuisance and a safety risk. Then those officials decided to hire some cops to uphold the desire of the community. The kids shouldn't have been skateboading on the sidewalk. That's what skate parks are for. Sidewalks are for walking. If you don't like it, then get a fucking job, make some money, and sponser a political candidate that will express your views. Or walk around city hall with signs and demonstrate, until someone takes notice - and builds you a skatepark. Don't think that just because you are a pissed off little skateboarder, that you have the right to break the law and then tell the cops to (basically) go fuck themselves.

Do I think the situation could have been handled differently? Maybe. I don't know. I wasn't there. However, it looks to me like justice was served, and maybe those kids will think differently about disrepecting authority in the future.

I don't think ANYTHING the skateboarders did justified the policeman's actions. It doesn't matter how much the skateboarders mouthed off to them. Words shouldn't provoke violence like that.

And that's the problem - the definition of violence. If you are trying to arrest someone and they are resisting, at some point they have to go to the ground. You can't play rip my shirt off and let's chase each other around like kids on a playground.

These skateboarders obviously had no respect for the law and didn't understand that they weren't dealing with a little old lady or something. There's a lot more at stake when you go against someone who has sworn to uphold the law.

You pull a toy gun on a man in an alley and you might get a few bucks, you pull a toy gun on a cop and you most likely will end up full of lead. Is that the cop's fault?

Oh, and turtles are fucking great.
