Its my understanding that my filter housing is foodsafe up to 130°C ... and its far from the only bit of plastic in my brewery.
But, I'll be running a trial with just boiling water to make sure that there aren't any detectable plastic smells or flavours, and to make sure that the thing wont melt into a blob.
Assuming that its all OK, no off flavours or aromas, then I reckon that what I will be doing is no different from one of those hopstopper thingies, just on the other side of the kettle tap thats all, and I get to use it as a hopback as well.
Oz, I've already ordered the 20micron filter so I may as well go through with it all now, just for the sake of science. If it all works, that'll be grand, if not I will most certainly take you up on your offer of a whirpooling tutorial.
Cheers
