I picked up a 2 year old recently refurbished PhillMill2 off of Craig's list a few weeks ago for 50 bucks. I'm really glad I did. The thing works great and I have raised my efficiency into the '80s.

Oh, and Crut-
Next time use your left hand so it feels like it's somebody else. ;)

I just ordered (one minute ago) the 7lb hopper barley crusher.

I tried to order it through NB, but they were sold out. So right to the source it was! should be here next week. I cant wait, enough of this hand crank coffee grinder/grain mill. Above and beyond from here on out!

I did a lot of research before I bought mine and it seems that they all get good reviews. I'd just weigh features vs. cost. I got the crankandstein 2a which is bare bones. No quick and easy adjustments to roller gap, no hopper, no frills. I did have to fabricate a hopper and a way to secure it, but enjoyed that aspect of it. I plan on building a motorized table eventually to replace the drill powered setup. It was by far the cheapest option and I don't regret it. My efficieny with the factory gap setting is between 75% and 85% and I suspect the margin is sparge related.

The main reason I went with BC is that it comes with the hopper and is adjustable fairly easily from what i read. Looking at the 7 and 15 lb hopper on the,, all it looks like it an extension of the 7lb. I prob would have went with the Crankenstein, but i didn't feel like fabricating the hopper, crank, and base.

I have yet to hear a negative word about the BC from anyone who owns one. I got a JSP abut 6 years ago on ebay and replaced the hopper. I like it well enough...

Finally got off my ass to order one and Northern Brewer is sold out until January 8th. So being the impatient person that I am I ordered it direct from http://www.barleycrusher.com/ Hope to see it soon, thanks for the input fellas. Now I've got to motorize it! Any ideas?
