A challenge to the BN Army

Tue Oct 23, 2007 4:24 pm

I'm entering my first semi local competition this weekend. The results will be announced in a few weeks, but I'm entering 5 brews to get some feedbak. A russian imperial stout that's really good but finished too sweet. A hefeweizen (pretty basic). An IPA whose recipe is very loosley based on one I found here on this forum (my favorite of my beers). An oak aged version of the same IPA (I'm drinking it right now :) ). And an English bitter which I love too!!!

The BN had.a hand in 4 of the 5 beers. I can't wait for the results and feedback. Thanks BN army! You're the reason I've started formulating my own recipes, and my beer just keeps getting better! Wish me luck!!

Challenge to the BN Army

Thu Nov 08, 2007 1:00 pm

I entered my first competition this week (excluding Long Shot). It's the Saratoga Thoroughbrews Knickerbocker Battle of the Brews in Albany, NY, and the judging is this Saturday. It's one of about 6 NY comps that feed into the NYS homebrewer of the year.
I entered 5 beers, and would like to make a pledge to the BN, and challenge the Army as well. I'm not McDole winning Long Shot, but I will donate $ for my results. I think others should do something similar to help support Justin.

I will pledge to donate $5 for any beer scoring 35 or higher. $10 if it wins a ribbon. If by some miracle I place in best of show, I'll donate an additional $25.

Five ribbons and best of show, that's $75. (It's unlikely, but I'll gladly donate if I win)

Hell, I'll probably donate something even if I lose, but 4 of the 5 beers I owe directly to the session and Jamil. Thank you!

Take up the challenge, BN Army!

And I'll double my donation if Vanna #1 posts the pictures of Vanna #2!!!

Double of 0 is what??

J/k man, good idea and I like where your head is at. I am not planning on entering anything this year but we will see.

Jamil would be screwed with these rules...

I like it ... we are having our big annual Bay Street Bash on Saturday and I entered seven beers. I'll "take the pledge."

Do I really need to comment on this idea?!

And what Lunch Meet had nothing to do with it?

Lunch Meet is a reason to drink ...

The only thing I've learned from Lunch Meet is that I can't count on Justin and JP at all to keep a schedule. They are about as regular as a man who can't stop eating cheese.

I recently entered my 2nd competition - the NovembeerFest (see http://www.impalingalers.org )

I got my first 1st place with a 37 in the APA/Ambers (won the 'taste-off' - 2 flights of 7 - 14 total beers in the category, so that's why my 37 beat the 2nd place's 37.5).

Justin, ya just got yourself 10 bucks!
Thanks BN (& RealBeer.com)
