sourcing soft drink refrigerators?

Sun Jul 15, 2007 12:44 pm

Anyone know where can I find one or more of these Coke or Pepsi refrigerators? I have been using standard kitchen refrigerators for fermenting and keg storage for many years. I just saw a Coke refrigerator about the size of a large kitchen refrigerator - glass front door, adjustable shelves that are horizontal, completely flat floor. It struck me that these would be even better than my current refrigerators for beer storage. I could easily place 6 to 8 kegs on the bottom and have room for the bottle beer on the top rack. Somewhere there must be some cheap used ones for sale. I looked on Ebay but only found big and /or pricey ones there.

Anyone got any suggestions?
thanks,
JJ

I think your best shot is Craigslist.

Your best bet is to make friends with refrigeration mechanics and electricians who work on commercial accounts. These are the folks that will most often come across units that are being replaced. They will also know which ones are being replaced for cosmetic reasons and not being junked for being unrepairable. Most of these guys that I know also like to drink and are open to being bribed with free beer.

Do a search for Used Resteraunt Equipment. In my area there a a 2 or 3 dealers that usually have surplus & re-firbed commercial fridges[/quote]

I agree with Thirsty, Craigslist will have what you want eventually. And when you search, use all kinds of terms and spellings since there are a lot of different ways to list these. I was able to find a single door "True" refrigerator listed as a "coke frig", and since there wasn't a lot of exposure to this listing, I was able to get this for $100.
Good luck and be patient, one will be listed soon.
Take care,
-Greg

P.S. It didn't take long for my wife to load this new refrigerator with a bunch of shit from Costco, so once you get it, load it with beer as quick as possible!
