Helles

Thu Apr 19, 2007 6:24 am

I just finished a batch of Helles. I'm looking for a commercial version to compare it to. But, went to my local beer store and no Helles (or at least anything that was marked as such).

Any suggestions?

BJCP lists the following as classic commercial examples of Munich Helles:

Hacker-Pschorr M̹nchner Helles, Paulaner Premium Lager, Spaten Premium Lager, Andechser Hell, Augustiner Lagerbier Hell, Weihenstephaner Original, Stoudt's Gold Lager

Maybe they have one of those?

Your not too far from Michigan, Up here the Atwater Block Brewery makes an awesome Helles called suprisingly Atwater Hell.

If you can't find it, send me a PM and I'll ship you a bottle down, it's really good stuff.
