Big Brewery Upgrade

Fri Mar 23, 2007 7:21 am

It took me about a month but my automation is finally complete. I got everything hooked up last night and powered up my brewery. I set the HLT timer to turn on at 7:00 and the MT for 8:00. After 2 hours they were both at 173 so it will take about 2.5 hours to get 30 gallons of water up to 180.

I have 18 gallons in the MT and when it kicks on it recirculates through the HERMS so it heats evenly. The heat from the HLT also helps heat the MT faster. The stir motor turne on and off with the heating element in the HLT.

I built this to save time but after setting it up I can see that the time I save from brewing will be spent in hooking everything up the night before....

Im brewing a big belgian strong this weekend to test it out..

Don't lie... you built it for "wow factor".

I applaud you! Looks purty.

God Brewing is such fun, ain't it!? All the side projects it affords just kick ass.

You'd better come up to Lancaster for our next big brew, Mash.

Me and Milt are in the works of building up the brew coop. I drug up some iron today to build the brew stand part of it today but now I feel so insignificant. What in the world can you possibly do with all that beer? Good Lord, my family is largely made up of drunks and we could in no way drink that much beer. I bow down before you master.

Nice toy. I think I'm going to get in with Mort and BeerMan on the putting a dent in the beer.
That would be a fun system to brew on though. You could worry less about how much you drink and just enjoy the day.
