Actually, I just bought a B3 chiller as well (re-sold from a HB shop in Aus) and both the compression fittings leaked. I tightened them as far as they would go, still leaky. So I pull off the fittings, and both compression rings have been put on so crookedly (one at nearly a 45degree angle!!) that there is no way they could seal properly. Of course, becaue I tightened it up so much, now the compression rings are smashed on so tight that I couldn't even get them off to replace with new, properly fitted ones... so it was a hell of a lot of teflon tape and they are ok ish now, but it still leaks if you put the system under pressure.
It was bad enough that I had to go out and replace the hose connecctors (not the same here as in the US) I knew about those in advance, but for $179 I was a little miffed that it hadn't been assembled very well
I'm over it now though, after all it is 50 feet of shiny, shiny copper and I cant wait to brew with it. Maybe mine was assembled by the work experience kid
