Home made Conical

Mon Jan 01, 2007 5:21 pm

Hello all,
I recently inherited a 20 gallon Groen S/S steam jacket stock pot on 3 foot legs. This practically looks like a conical however the bottom is convexed rather than conical in shape. I would like to keep this in my garage and use it as a fermentor and conditioning tank. I need to be able to keep it heated to ale ferment temps. Does anyone know where I can find the equipment to make it work. I am guessing that some sort of glycol recirc pump with a thermostat will do the trick. Any and all thoughts welcome.

You can find what you need in my garage. ship it to me and I will take care of it

Im using a 12.5 gallon keg as my fermenter. Using a weldless kit and a piece of stainless tubing for my racking arm. There was a brewer profile in on of the recent BYO mag and it showed how he cools his fermenters. Not in detail but good enough for an idea.

Hey No problem I will send it Fed Ex overnight with out a return address.
How are you keeping your temps controlled? In the past I placed my plastic fermentors in an interior closet that typically held 78 f. But my garage gets below 0 in the winter. Great for Lagers I suppose.

Yeha, and send C.O.D. That's almost a house payment in most of the country.

Get a bigger closet. If you get Push to come out, you'll have more room.

the garage is at 58 deg right now. so the fermenter is next to the water heater.
