I think the BCS recipe would probably be closer. But you'd still need to sit on it for a year & blend it for real authenticity. But drinkable without blending, just not a clone.

1 oz Horizon 60 min
1 oz Cascade 20 min
2 oz Cascade 10 min
2 oz Cascade 0 min

In their books, they would write it more like:

1 oz Horizon, boil for 40 minutes.
1 oz Cascade, boil for 10 minutes.
2 oz Cascade, boil for 10 minutes, turn off heat. Add 2 oz Cascade.

While this is MAY be more approachable to people used to reading recipes, it's not the convention for beer recipes, and irritates me. Minor, but it irks me and makes me question the rest of what they have to say.

I refuse to stock them at the shop. If someone wants the book, they need to special order it. I can't speak to the accuracy of any of their recipes, as I haven't brewed them, but while I don't think it will clone the beer you're looking to make, it may be worth trying.

I have one, and agree with you. I have to work to understand the hop schedules. And I've never had one of the recipes come out close. That me be me, though.

Sorry to take so long to respond, my laptop power cord failed and I have been waiting for a new one. I agree completely, Spider. The recipe format sucks, I don't think I will brew anything from the book. I would be amazed if any recipe from the book actually cloned anything. I did however become enchanted with the idea of brewing sour beer in a very short time frame.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Does it irritate you as much as my use of the word "Chief", chief?

I don't stock the book, but you're still able to log into the forum, so draw your own conclusions.

Even though the repeated use of the words chief, ace, sport, etc are still annoying as fuck.
