Samuel Adams Merry Mischief clone?

Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:22 pm

This beer is a new release this year, but I'm wondering if anyone that's had it has tried to clone it yet. I've found a couple untried recipes, but hoped maybe someone in the BN Army could help out. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you do!

It's a gingerbread imperial stout. Fantastic, smooth, amazing aroma... Would like to brew some myself.

From their website:

I haven't tried this or cloned it but I have made a gingerbread beer that won a local contest last month.

I would work it up with the ingredients listed to resemble an imperial stout of some sort, ferment with a clean ale yeast then soak those spices in 6-8oz of vodka (or alcohol of your choice, rum works well in this) for 2 weeks and add to taste at packaging.

Prost!

I believe my OG was 1.072 and my FG was 1.016. I did add molasses but will not do so again in the future, I feel like it gave the beer a slight metalic like taste that faded with time. It did not have the mollasses type cookie flavor. I used a lot of biscuit malt some melanoiden and toasted oats.

I can get the full recipe for you if you like.

Good luck!
