Brewing Jamil's Imperial Stout-No Magnum,how bout Columbus?

Fri Dec 08, 2006 3:07 am

So the HopUnion databook says GR Magnum can be replaced with maybe Columbus or Nugget. My LHBS said Columbus, anyone think Nugget might be better? I'm not worrying, but I am concerned 8)

I'd say you'd be fine with Columbus. Are the AA's similar?

Good point, your poll is void without the no pants option! ;)

Columbus should be OK. The only issue is that you will get a touch of flavor from the change in hops. Not a big deal, but it won't be exactly the same.

I added the No Pants option for you. :D
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

As did I!

The beer turned out great and while the bitterness in the wort was up there, I understand that it will mellow with the age that this beer should have under it's belt before it's ready for prime time anyway...
