Ive been brewing AG for several months now and have been mostly composting my spent grain. I have started to bake with it in bread and cookies. Is there anyone else out there that uses the spent grain for anything else? Cheers!

My wife turns a small percentage of it into spent-grain bread then we compost the rest.

I have a friend that eats it for breakfast as cereal. YMMV.

I've traded grain to friends with chickens in exchange for eggs. Compost if I can't do that.

Pretty much got a dozen chickens for this exact reason. Brewing 10 gallons a week was building a huge grain pile that was not wanting to compost. Now I dump it on top the morning after brewing, the chicks are in the coop by the time I am done and home with the grain, and it is a fierce attack on that grain when they see me dump it. My daughter does love watching the chicks grow so that is another benefit and once I start getting eggs, they are still pullets, I will have at least some nutrition from the spent grain. If you live in a rural area there is almost positively someone raising fowl that would love your "waste".

Feed my pigs with spent grain, among other things.

One of my friends made crackers with his. Even put a little shredded cheese on there before baking it.

+1 NH Brewer

We have 13 chickens that we give our grains to. It takes about and hour for the girls to destroy 12 - 15 pounds of grain. When we start using our meat bird coop, the grains will go to those birds while they grow.
