You can get damn close by using my Rye IPA recipe and a bit of chocolate malt. BYO or Zymurgy published a recipe for HRR after I'd been brewing the rye IPA for a couple years, and I was astounded by the similarity.

Radical Brewing has a Rye Pale Ale, you might take that and hop it up a bit and maybe increase the malt bill. It inspired a Rye Brown I enjoy alot. I have noticed that if you want to get a nice Rye tang to the beer you need at least 2lbs of Rye malt.

Hi Denny, I ended up trying your Rye IPA recipe and it is awsome.... I kinda cranked up the flavoring hops a bit and they need to mellow a bit but it's still awsome. I think I'll cut back on the hops a bit next time and maybe increase the mash temp to make it a little sweeter but it's awsome... did I mention it is awsome?

Thanks Denny Buddy,

P.S. If you live in Colorado and like Hop Rod Rye (or any other Bear Rebublic beer for that matter), you better pay attention because they are no longer distributing it here any more.

Glad ya like it Rob, but I've got a suggestion...try making it *exactly* like the recipe says. Then you'll have a baseline if you want to start making changes.
