Blichman HopRocket

Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:59 am

Is anybody having trouble with their Blichman HopRocket plugging up? I'm using like 2-3 Oz. of whole hops. My pumps on the BK side pushing hot wort thur the Rocket back to the BK. I'm going for the SN torpedo effect. After about 5 min of recirculation she plugs up. Any suggestions......I have ball valves on the kettle and on the output side of the pump I've tried reduceing the flow, no help

Sounds like the same problem a freind of mine is having with his. He says that he is using a reduced flow but still has problems. Any help out there with this problem?

I have my pump on the out side of the HR (and the HR upside down...) and if it starts to slow down I loosen the band clamp (on the top of my upside down HR) and the flows picks back up to normal. I think the thing is made wrong way up; at least I like mine a lot better since the inverting.

So your pulling the wort thur the Rocket, I'll try that next. How are you supporting the rocket when it's upside down? When you lossen the band clamp, do you remove the lid at all? (built as the bottom)
