Love the shows! I have learned so much.

I have been brewing since '90. (WOW!) I have never done an all-grain though I still brew some really kick-ass beers. I am going to try all-grain for my next brewing session. I have been grwing my own hops (enough for a couple of batches) for the last two years. (Y'all should have had that "fresh/wet hops show" ...like y'all said you would.)

Right now, I am drinking a really fruity Heffe that I brewed with a lb of crystal 60L (instead of Munich) for something a little different. It is different but totally awesome.

I am a kid at heart. I am from TX (grew up there till I was 27 yo) and I live in CT ('love it up here). I am a mechanical engineer and I work on hydrogen generators and fuel cell systems. My goal is to brew with hydrogen generated with solar power sometime within the next two years. (Would I be the first?) I have 2 perfect kids 10 & 5 and a wife that loves porters and stouts (and is really a hottie too).

Jason, if y'all are ever up in CT, visitin' the folks, and out drinking somewhere let me know if you arent too busy and we'll hook up.

'Looking forward to the Mead show!

Curt Ebner

Who's Jason? And I must say you traded down when you left Texas...

Welcome to the forums Curt! Glad to have you!

I meant Justin. (doh!...sorry Justin)(I am BAD w/ names.)

I like the people in TX. I like the food. I like Ft. Worth, Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels and Possum Kingdom. I miss em all. Houston...uh...well...I have some good friends that live there and they love it, but it is not for me.

I like fall and winter ...the distinct 4 seasons you get up here in New England and New York City (some of my best friends live there), Boston, VT (great micros all over the place up there!), NH, ME and not being more than an hour drive from the beach or snow skiing.

I do miss TX ...but it's all good bro.

thanks and later,
Curt E.

People grow their own hops? That is right up my alley. Are they hard to grow? Are they a field crop, a tree, or what? Maybe I should call the extension office and see if they have information.

It will depend on where you live Mort, on what hops you can grow. I think they are pretty easy to grow but some grow better in certain regions of the country.

Hops are a vine (actually Bine) with cones...
Plant in hills along a fencline or even better along a cloths line.
