Newer Brewer

Hi. My name is Mort and I like beer. I am wanting to learn some things about how to make my own beer. Currently, I like to drink Coors Light sometimes and Miller Lite other times. So anyway, I want to learn how to make good beer from scratch and quit buying beer.

Welcome, Mort!

Your first stop (after the BN, of course) should be http://howtobrew.com. Spend some time reading there and you will save yourself some serious heartache in the future!

Hi Mort,

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll learn a lot about making beer here, but there are other sites you should check first for some of the basics like equipment and how to brew your first batch. Gotta crawl before you walk, right?

Check out:
http://www.beertown.org/homebrewing/beginning.html
http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html
http://morebeer.com/index.html
http://www.northernbrewer.com/starterkits.html

The first link is the American Homebrewers Association, and it has a LOT of good info. You can even search for a local homebrew shop or club so you can check it all out first.

Finally, keep in mind that if you're usually a Coors Light drinker, you may be surprised at how much better homebrew is. It may be a good idea to go down to a local brewpub and see if you like what they offer. It will be a better representation of what you can make, if you try hard enough.

Good Luck!

Thank you for all the good words. I will be doing a lot of reading up on brewing. I never knew about this stuff.
