Thanks, Whitebeard. I know they mentioned a ferment temp on the original show, a re-brew has aired since, though. I'm wondering if the ferment temp has changed from that 69F. They said on the re-brew show that this was the fifth iteration of the recipe. I'll send mike a msg on Facebook.

69F WAS the temp they mentioned in the re-brew show from 2 weeks ago!!!

When? I listened twice.

Definitely 69F from my experience with WLP007. Not enough esters at 67F. You should achieve 80% attenuation with that yeast. That will give you the final gravity.

Cool, so 69 degrees it is. Just hoping that there are no fusels produced at this temp. I guess a healthy pitch would be in order. And it appears that to get a 7.2% ABV from an OG of 1.066 would put the beer FG around 1.012 or so? does that sound about right?

I get a bit of fussel flavor in the actual AB.

I have not had any issues with fusels using WLP007. I agree with alanzo that there are low levels of fusels in the Arrogant Bastard itself, but it blends nicely with the hops and fermentation esters. I make sure I pitch a healthy amount of yeast and properly oxygenate. I typically pitch at 66-67F and let it free rise to 69F and then hold it there until it is within about a plato of terminal gravity and then ramp up the temp to 72F to finish out fermentation when I do Stone clones. 1.012 sounds about right for a FG.

Brewed this a few weeks ago and just put it on tap tonight. Gotta carb for a couple days.
I missed my numbers a tad but it tastes great!

So I took my extract version of ABA clone to a house party down the street. This crew drinks only a few things: Stone Brewing ABA, IPA, and PBR and Bud. Depends on the distance from payday. It was deemed by four 'tasters' as 'cloned' on the "if you were handed another pint, would you notice a difference" ruling. Side by side it's so close. Mine is definitely not filtered, but other than that it's hard to notice a difference.

This is the recipe.

Cheers.
