Sven,

So, where are those picts of that contraption you promised from the Butchers show? And just what exactly was that thing for, anyway?

Here is a close-up of the device...

You'll want to use 3/4" cpvc for resistance to heat and warping. As for the ring find whatever you can that is about 6" - 9" in diameter. I used a 6" cpvc cap and cut off the top on a bandsaw. The paint stariners come in 1-gallon and 5-gallon sizes. Attach the strainer with a hose clamp and secure with a few TEC screws.

...and here is the device in use...

As you can see this will work as either a hop bag or for steeping your grains.

Thanks for getting your Butch on

Hey, I use that sorta thing as well! Makes clean up sooooo much better!
And from what Ive noticed, no real loss in hop utilization.
Actually, that reminds me that I need to get a new paint straining bag. Just threw mine out as it became quite nasty after a buncha brews.
Entschuldigen Sie bitte. Ich bin getrunken.

One more thing to help clean up the wort before the carboy. I just use a stainless steel coffee filter in a funnel as I transfer to my carboys.
