i should get some gear if i want to be taken seriously huh?...too bad I'm spending all my money on equipment...but the festival was awesome, it was pretty big, the weather was nice, as usual all the brewers were more than happy to talk about what they're doing and how its all working out for them. I cant wait for the next one...nassau coliseum should be a good time as well.

JP told me that if you REALLY want some action, you wear the shirt from that "other" show...

haha, ill let you know when i get my first hop grenade T, but for now i'm more worried about trying to figure out if the CPVC in the bottom of my mash tun is the same thing as the false bottoms that everyone is talking about...i just finished the mash tun and i think its pretty sweet, but there are still those few stupid questions i have...and then i see guys on here with crazy home made brew stands with electric panels and stuff! we'll see how it works out.

but once i find out what pm means, ill do it next time i get into manhattan, it happens pretty regularly and i want to get to as many breweries as possible. I've been to a bunch upstate during college, I've been to bluepoint on the island, but thats about it, full time job makes it tough. From what i hear, most of these guys send their recipes upstate to get brewed, bottled and shipped, so i wonder which breweries really offer a good look at the process? any recs?

A false bottom is a perforated screen of stainless steel. Kind of a scaled down version of what the pros us. What you have is a manifold, and is best utilized in fly sparging. The bazooka screens (screen tube) are usually for batch sparging. False bottoms could be used for either. I recommend reading up on in it in Rock Candy's "How to Brew". He discusses fluid dynamics and design considerations for either method.

I don't know who you could be referring to, there...
