2010 Census

Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:51 pm

Anyone know what the minimum amount of information I have to give these assholes is without getting a fine or going to jail is. I feel all I have to tell them is the number of "heads" in the house...but there are so many more questions.
I dont trust the whores running in charge with my personal information and what they'll use it for.
My water tastes like shit, so I flavor it with malt, hops and yeast..Yum!

possibly the most important reason to collect census information is to help define school districts. funds allocation, building new schools, and defining the region itself is somewhat derived from census numbers. if you have kids and want a better school this is one way to make that happen.

I talked with a census collector or rather counter who told the tale of how hostile people are toward "the gubmint co'lect'n ma personal data." he was a bitter little man. it's quite a task to count to half a billion. one thing to remember is that there is SOOOOO much data that is unpossible to use it specifically. besides, the IRS, bank, insurance, credit card, and your grocery store club card know WAY more about you then census data will ever uncover.

so why not just use the IRS records to count people. ironically it's against a law to use data collected from tax payers for anything but tax stuff. just like how the census can't by law publish a very long list of things like your specific name, SSN#, phone number, lat/long, etc that could be a marketers wet dream.

look, it's your right to not disclose anything but before you go damning the system do a little reading. you'll see that this system is pretty benign.

I love the fact that the other day I got a letter from the Census bureau saying that they will be mailing out the census form and that I should fill it out.

If everyone in the country got this letter, I wonder how much that cost? How about just sending out the census form and asking me to fill it out then. I wonder if I'll get a thank you letter for filling out the form.

Waste!

Not to mention the TV ads, etc.

The way I see it, the Constitution calls for an enumeration for the purpose of allocating seats in the House. So them asking for anything other than the number of people in my house is illegal, and will not be answered by me.

Especially since they've pretty much capped the number of rep seats available in the house at... whatever the hell its at right now. With gerrymandering practices, cesus data doesnt really play into district-drawing lines anyhow....
