What to do with this March 809 pump?

Wed Aug 30, 2006 3:48 pm

I just got the March 809 pump for my b-day and now that I have it I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I hinted to my wife and family that I wanted it. I'd like to work it into my current setup without buying too much additional equipment. Here is what I'm working with:

Gravity System
Brewpot - Converted Keg with bulkhead fitting and barb
Mash Tun - Orange Gatorade cooler with false bottom and whirly gig sparge arm
HLT - small 5 gallon stainless steel pot with bulkhead fitting and barb
Immersion Chiller

I have no other high tech or expensive pieces of equipment, just all the other basic things an intermediate home brewer would have.

I am willing to purchase Quick Disconnects if there is potential to use this single pump for multiple applications.

ANY IDEAS?

At the very least, put together this chiller set up. If you have an imersion chiller already it doesn't look it would take much to put it together. This is what I'm going to do once I get a pump for my system.

BTW - I have a very similar set up as you. What I plan on using the pump for is Jamil's chiller and to get the water pumped from my pot up to my HLT.

I would invest some cash into brass qd's and some suitable tubing. I had my march pump for at least 6 months before I finally set the thing up. I have been happy ever since I did. Check this thread.

I have found that the March pumps are really good at moving liquids in a pipe or tube from one location or container to another. Perhaps you could use yours to do the same?

Hey if you can't use it then I will take it off your hands!

That is one of those things it's hard to call a "problem". Good luck with it.
