I have some US05 dry yeast and Cal Ale 5 (wlp051).

Which would you use in this recipe?? I've become a fan of wlp051 for IPA's. Haven't had much experience with US05 but hear people say it is tart?

Brewed JBA for the first time over the weekend.

I also forgot to do the mash hop addition, so I threw it into the kettle while sparging.
The other adjustment to the recipe was sub-ing Amarillo for Cascade as the LHBS was out.

Thanks again Tasty. I can't wait until this is ready to go.

Just kegged today, sample smelled great! Quick question, what kind of FG numbers is everyone getting? I ended up with a SG. of 1.064 and a FG of 1.018. Just seemed kinda high for 3rd gen. Wyeast 1056.
Thanks in advance. :aaron

The intent of the 154F mash temperature is to give you a higher FG beer with more body. I usually get 1.018 against a 1.066 SG. It seems pitch size wasn't an issue so I assume almost all the remaining gravity is unfermentables. Perfect. I say cloned. :)
yep, yep, yep, yep

Just finished brewing this recipe (well, I had to sub some of the Amarillo with Centennial because I only had 1 oz of Amarillo). Wow, this smells awesome already.

Just brewed this yesterday. Missed the mash temp ( I had 148, should have been 154 ), but hit my SG. Did a 1.5L starter of WLP001.

What can I expect from the lower mash temp on this beer? I'm assuming it will have less body than it should. Regardless, I don't expect to be dumping it ( except down my throat ).

Brewed this beer last week. I over-corrected for my efficiency and ended up with an O.G. of 1.062. Mash temp was a bit lower, started around 153 then dropped to 149 towards the end. Starter was 1.6 L and my gravity reading when racking to secondary was 1.012. I think that this is just reflecting my lower mash temp. It tastes great already but I got a little bit of astringency from the low F.G. This will be brewed again soon.

DarkSide - were your results at all similar?

Thanks Tasty for sharing a great recipe.
